Hey

You may have noticed that I have recently changed my username to "Andrew To Photography".  I thought it was more appropriate than to use the name of a music band that I am a fan of.  I didn't realise I could change it.  It shows how inactive I have been of late on dA.

I hope to be back on track with contributing with the dA community pretty soon.

Take care and thanks to all my watchers!  Appreciate your support :D

Hello my friends!

I know I have been rubbish at keeping up with fellow deviants on here for a while.  I have been busy with work and the usual shit life can throw at you :)

However, I just wanted to share with you my epic journey on the Friendship Highway from Lhasa, in Tibet across the Himalayan Range to Kathmandu in Nepal.  I was lucky enough to witness Mountain Qomolangma (Mount Everest) with my own eyes.  I will never forget this wonderful and enriching experience.

Tibet is the 'forbidden' land, which is guarded by the great Himalayan mountains to the north, east, west and south.  Until recent years, Tibet was a closed country with only a few travellers being able to penetrate its remote secrets.

The sheer remoteness, inaccessibility and mystery of Tibet still manages to allure travellers, including me!  Tibet is a treasure chest of beautiful landscape, bright snow capped peaks, the most brilliant of blue and clear skies, crystal clear rivers and streams, and most importantly much of its architecture intact, despite the cultural revolution which took place in the 1950s when the Dalai Lama was forced into exile by the Chinese.

It's a sad story and I was to fortunate to witness the traditional way of Tibetan life with its culture still intact, but only just.  I can already see major influences from China, both culturally and architecturally.  Tibet is changing fast and is becoming more modern by the day.  Not before long, old Tibetan traditions will be a thing of the past. :(

I hope you enjoy my visualisations and gain inspiration from the Tibetan way of life, which I have captured forever.

Best regards
Andrew

Ok, I have not been actively participating on dA recently.  This is mainly due to work and not having enough time to dedicate to watching, favouriting, commenting, and having fun on dA.  :(. For this, I apologise.

The reason for this journal is to thank the special person who very kindly gave me a 12 month premium sub on here.  I have an idea who it may have been, but could be wrong.  Anyway, thank you very much indeed.  :glomp: All that I ask is for that friend of mine to kindly send me a note to confirm that it was you...please? ;)

Nothing to report really...my photography has taken a back seat for the moment, but I will be travelling again later this year so should have more travel photography to share with you fine people.  'Nebet' is a clue where I will be travelling to.  You must have worked it out by now.  It's two countries. :) Answers on a postcard please. :lmao:

In the meantime, hope you're all well and enjoying your photography and getting something out of it.

Thanks to all my watchers.  I truly appreciate you connecting with my photography, you must know that!

Take care

Andrew

Jambo everyone!

I have just returned from East Africa.  Thoroughly enjoyed the adventure across 3 beautiful countries: Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda.  Tired and exhausted, but so worth it.  Saw the 'big five' in the Masai Mara National Park and much, much more; slept in the middle of the Nile at Uganda; and trekked up a volcano to see the mountain gorillas.  Fantastic people of Africa!

Now I let my photos tell the story...

Thanks for looking.
