Holy Cow by AndrewToPhotography Holy Cow by AndrewToPhotography
Dedicated to my mate, Cho :iconchopen: for:
1. suggesting and making my deviation, 'Don't Look down' become a Daily Deviation; and
2. appreciating my work and providing me with constructive criticism.

Cheers. This one is for you mate. Enjoy!

One of many sacred cows on the streets of Varanasi, India. I loved seeing them literally owning the streets, going where they want. Freedom!

At first it seems strange that cows are everywhere, but after a short while, it becomes the norm. It gives me great satisfaction when I manage to get it tack sharp! It can be quite difficult to achieve without a tripod even in daylight.

Cheers for the :+fav: too.

Rarely, only for night shots, but if it wasn;t too much an inconvenience I would set up all the time to ensure that I don't get any blurred shots. I tend to get quite a lot of blurred shots when rushing. I even have Image stabiliser. I even try to hold my breath to minimize or eliminate vibration. How about yourself?

Very, very rare Andrew, perhaps 1/2 a dozen in my whole gallery were taken with Tripod, doesn`t help that`s it`s a cheap ass £30 job from Argos though ;p
It`s simply not practical for street photography but as you say vital for Night shooting which is something I`ve still to play around with actually and same with me regarding Image Stabiliser,it`s not fool proof and you have to help it by steadying the ol body :eager:

I love this shot, how the cow looks at you. As if she is testing you: "come on tourist, do you dare to come closer?..."

Thanks so much Andrew for this dedication! It's an amazing honor! It's a funny picture and I love the way the cow looks at you. It must be quite intimidating to see such animals with such horns roaming the streets beside you?

You're welcome, Cho. It was at first because I didn't know what to expect, but they are just there and they don't cause any harm. I patted a few of them as I passed, but you have to be careful not to step in it's cow pat on the floor :D

Hehe you gotta love their traditions. Such a different world from what we're used to here in Europe...or even HK!

Exactly, I think that's why I enjoyed being there so much. It was an experience like no other, which made me love it even more. I'd definitely returning in the future.

Yes, probably south next time. I was in the North this time. How about yourself? Any desires to go somewhere other than HK? Before, I was wanting to go to HK every year, but there are so many places that I would like to visit now. I'm thinking of Kenya or Tibet next.

Well I think I've seen plenty of countries in my life. I think I'm at 15 or something right now, but I would really really want to visit New Zealand again. I've been there once as a child, but I wanna shoot it to pieces :D

It's true though. :D Yes the title is a little tongue 'n' cheek, but they are holy cows everywhere. I really enjoyed seeing animals rule. Vehicles drive round them, people adore them. What a refreshing change. ;p
